SAX IN THE CITY
Ashby Gale is a jazz saxophonist under the alias
of SAX IN THE
CITY. Ashby has played saxophone since 2003 in such venues as
Trier, Germany; Luxembourg City; Amsterdam; The Kennedy Center ; and The
Orange Peel. Ashby has had the pleasure of
meeting such jazz greats as: Chick Corea, Sheila Jordan, Jamey
Aebersold, Jason Marsalis, Bob Mintzer, and Dan Haerle. During
the summers, Ashby performs most weekends in
downtown Asheville from 7 - 10pm.

- Freddie Freeloader was the first song recorded for Sax Appeal, and Groove Minor was the last (Coincidentally, the same order as the tracks on the disc).

- The cover of Sax in the City was based on the Asheville skyline, where Sax in the City performs during the summer.
- Naima, on Sax Education, starts with a recording of rain from Sax in the City's back porch.
- The covers of Sax Appeal were shot in Trier, Germany.
- Slowly (I Will Dance with You) was originally called Slowly, by Bob Mintzer. Ashby Gale wrote lyrics and adapted the song to feature a vocalist, adding the title, "I Will Dance with You".
